Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking engineers and scientists to join our Sensor Systems Group, focusing on radar and sensor system development and testing for national security applications. You will develop models, prototype algorithms, and apply machine learning to complex datasets, while fabricating test fixtures and validating radar performance.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree is required, with the ability to obtain security clearances and a U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Applied Physics, Applied Math, Math or related fields.
  • Interest in sensor systems; knowledge in Matlab, Python, C++ or similar tools/languages.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues from varied disciplines.
  • Must be able to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and pursue Secret clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze models of next generation radar and sensor systems.
  • Prototype novel signal processing algorithms for deployment by the military.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to augment capabilities.
  • Fabricate test fixtures to support test events.
  • Apply data science and ML to large-scale datasets.
  • Test radar systems to ensure they meet requirements.
