Job summary

FNTS is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to join a managed services team. You will maintain customer Mainframe environments, perform upgrades, backups, and migrations, and respond to break/fix issues with a focus on z/Series systems, SAS/V tape, and networking connectivity.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of Mainframe experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote, nationwide setting with occasional after-hours support.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Mainframe experience with z/OS, JES2, SDSF, TSO, RACF, HCD/IODF, SMP/E
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
• Experience with z/Series hardware, LPARs, I/O, and storage environments

Responsibilities

• Maintain customer Mainframe environments and resolve technical problems
• Plan, migrate, and upgrade systems including tape save/restore and software replication
• Write and maintain system documentation and assist with hardware/configuration upgrades
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to migrate environments with minimal impact
• Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed
