Job summary

University Settlement Society of New York is seeking a part-time program assistant to support group leaders and program aides in after-school activities, snack and dismissal, and to help maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.

You will assist with theme-based projects, track attendance, coordinate with host schools and families, and ensure confidentiality and adherence to policies. Bilingual candidates are preferred; schedule is Monday to Friday 3:30pm–6:00pm.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in child development, Elementary Ed. or related field, or H.S. Diploma with two years' experience.
• Experience working with parent groups (volunteer groups, PTAs, AmeriCorps, etc.).
• Familiarity working with youth in varied settings and ages under 13.
• Ability to work well under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
• Bilingual English and Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities; teamwork oriented.

Responsibilities

• Support group leaders and program aides with classroom activities and behavior issues.
• Assist with theme-based projects and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Act as liaison between group leaders and program management.
• Maintain positive relationships with host school, parents and children.
• Supervise arrival, snack and dismissal for assigned unit.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and help order as directed.
