Catholic Charities of New York seeks a Senior Advocate Counselor to support the Program Director, oversee day-to-day operations at the program site, and guide staff with the Internship coordinator when the director is away.

The role includes managing a 50-student caseload, delivering counseling, coordinating activities, tracking academic progress, and helping students prepare for college and careers within a school setting in New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with youth and in-school setting.

Responsibilities

• Represent program and agency at partnership meetings with partners, funders and the public when the Program Director is unavailable.
• Assist Program Director in planning trips/activities and strategies to advance programmatic goals.
• Manage a caseload of at least 50 students, track attendance and educational progress, and provide counseling.
• Conduct attendance outreach via KinvoMessaging, morning wake-up calls, or home visits as needed.
• Provide crisis counseling/restorative mediations as needed.
• Facilitate daily program activities and track academic progress using report cards and progress reports.
• Maintain progress notes in tracking systems and compile all necessary reports.
• Provide job and career development activities (resume, cover letters, mock interviews, internships).
• Help students assess personality traits to develop realistic educational/career plans and transitions after HS.
• Assist with college options and admissions process and financial aid applications.
• Maintain monthly calendar of program activities and workshops.
• Plan and facilitate advisory sessions twice per week and field trips/events.
• Support new student admissions (intake interviews, orientations).
• Attend internal/external meetings, trainings and conferences.
• Assess referrals to community-based support services.
