Job summary

Tampa General Hospital, Inc. is hiring an X-ray Technologist 3 for the TGH Imaging Parsons site in Brandon, FL.

The role requires performing general, DEXA, and fluoroscopy radiographic procedures under Radiologist supervision, with potential cross-training into CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, or MRI planning. The incumbent will ensure patient safety, verify orders, prepare equipment, and maintain imaging quality while following HIPAA and department policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a 2-year radiologic technology program from an accredited school.
• Current and valid Florida State License (CRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
• ARRT registry.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology for x-ray testing.
• Familiarity with radiology safety and HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot radiology equipment, and to work with PACS and billing codes.

Responsibilities

• Verify that the prescription matches the procedure and record all signs and symptoms.
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
• Position patient and adjust immobilization to obtain optimum views.
• Operate x-ray and DEXA equipment and set exposure factors.
• Process radiologic images and assess technical quality.
• Verify exam matches order in PACS and adjust billing codes as needed.
• Present prior studies to radiologist for comparison.
• Apply radiation protection practices to minimize exposure.
• Stock supplies, check machines, and perform QC as needed.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
