Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Workface Planner for a field-based role on an active industrial construction site. You will link engineering, procurement, materials management, project controls, and construction teams to ensure complete, executable work packages that enable safe and productive field execution.

You will guide planning activities, coordinate readiness, and drive continual productivity improvements across the project.

Senior Workface Planner

Play an integral role in driving construction productivity, execution readiness, and project performance on major industrial construction projects. As a Senior Workface Planner, you will serve as a key link between engineering, procurement, materials management, project controls, and construction teams, ensuring that field crews receive complete, executable work packages that support safe, efficient, and predictable project execution.

This is a field-based role located on an active industrial construction site.

The successful candidate will work closely with Construction Managers, Superintendents, Field Engineers, Project Controls, Materials Management, and craft leadership to remove execution barriers, improve workforce productivity, and ensure work is ready before it reaches the field. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of construction execution, work packaging methodologies, construction sequencing, and field operations.

Your efforts will directly impact labor productivity, schedule performance, cost control, workforce efficiency, and overall project success.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Workface Planner is responsible for providing planning, coordination, and execution support to ensure construction work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules, budgets, and contractual requirements. You will develop and manage construction work packages, coordinate construction readiness activities, and align engineering, procurement, materials, equipment, labor, and documentation requirements to support successful field execution.

Working closely with Construction Management, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Materials Management, and field leadership teams, you will help ensure crews have the information, materials, equipment, permits, and resources necessary to execute work safely and productively.

As a senior member of the project team, you will provide technical guidance, support planning activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and improving project outcomes.

You will be responsible for

• Developing and maintaining construction work packages that support efficient field execution.
• Supporting implementation of Workface Planning processes and construction readiness programs.
• Coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls activities to ensure work is executable before release to the field.
• Identifying and removing constraints that could impact construction productivity, schedule performance, or workforce efficiency.
• Reviewing engineering deliverables, specifications, drawings, and construction documentation to develop work package requirements.
• Ensuring labor, materials, tools, equipment, scaffolding, permits, and supporting documentation are available prior to work execution.
• Coordinating with Materials Management and Procurement teams to verify material availability and readiness.
• Supporting workforce planning, labor forecasting, and resource optimization activities.
• Monitoring work package readiness and maintaining construction readiness reports, look-aheads, and performance metrics.
• Supporting construction sequencing, execution strategies, and installation planning activities.
• Participating in daily, weekly, and monthly planning and coordination meetings.
• Collaborating with field supervision and craft leadership to identify productivity improvement opportunities.
• Supporting Project Controls and Scheduling teams by integrating workface planning activities with project schedules.
• Monitoring field progress and identifying execution risks that may impact project objectives.
• Assisting in developing recovery plans and mitigation strategies when schedule or productivity issues arise.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to planners, coordinators, and project personnel as appropriate.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to work packaging, construction planning, execution efficiency, and operational excellence.

What you'll bring to the role

You bring a strong combination of construction planning expertise, field execution experience, project coordination skills, and operational knowledge gained through supporting complex industrial projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Technical Studies, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
• Typically 7+ years of experience supporting workface planning, construction planning, project controls, field engineering, construction management, or related project execution functions.
• Experience supporting EPC, EPCM, energy, chemicals, LNG, power generation, resources, manufacturing, infrastructure, or industrial construction projects.
• Strong understanding of Construction Industry Institute (CII) Workface Planning principles and construction work packaging methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing construction work packages.
• Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project delivery processes.
• Experience supporting labor forecasting, workforce planning, construction sequencing, and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, craft workforce requirements, and field execution practices.
• Experience identifying and resolving work package constraints and construction readiness issues.
• Ability to coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, materials management, construction, and project controls organizations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical execution solutions.
• Working knowledge of construction planning systems, scheduling software, project reporting tools, and work packaging platforms.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or similar project scheduling systems is preferred.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to influence project teams and drive alignment across multiple disciplines and organizations.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to provide technical guidance and direction to project teams.
