Job summary

McAngus Goudelock & Courie LLC in Alexandria, VA is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation lateral partner attorney to join our defense team. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of workers' compensation defense experience and a portable book of business, with Virginia and DC licenses (Maryland preferred).

This role offers a competitive annual salary range of $120,000–$220,000, annual bonuses, and a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, 401(k), and more.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent required.
• Licensed to practice law in Virginia and DC; Maryland preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess new files to establish action plans, budgets, and recommendations.
• Identify pleading requirements and delegate tasks to paralegals as needed.
• Prepare discovery responses and manage document production.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and other discovery events, providing thorough reports.
• Negotiate settlements, secure authority, and prepare for trial as necessary.
• Maintain regular communication with paralegals and legal assistants.
