Job summary

Berkley Industrial Comp in Colorado is seeking an Associate Underwriter to support renewal outcomes and customer service within the workers’ compensation line. You will review, quote, and retain renewal business while gaining exposure to underwriting processes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with underwriting and risk teams, handling multi-jurisdiction claims, and developing licenses in applicable jurisdictions over time. This is a full-time position offering a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in criminal justice, public administration, business, nursing or insurance OR equivalent work experience.
• Experience adjusting workers’ compensation claims; multi-jurisdictional preferred.
• Professional adjusting license in applicable jurisdictions within one year of job acceptance.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lost time and med only claims across multiple jurisdictions up to $250,000 exposure.
• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims with underwriting, risk management, accounts, and vendors as appropriate.
• Manage all technical aspects of claims including coverage, disability benefit management, medical management, file management, litigation management, subrogation, reserving and settlement.
• Verify and interpret coverage issues and consult with attorneys, assist in negotiation of settlement, mediations and trials.
• Resolve problems involving multi-faceted claims handling and determine reserves to reflect exposure.
• Attend and participate in training sessions to the accounts or account visits and claim reviews.
