Job summary

Socket.dev at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a Work Control Planner 2 to support operations and maintenance planning within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This onsite role focuses on developing and coordinating detailed work packages for the PF-4 glovebox installation and facility operations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, 5+ years in work or maintenance planning, and the ability to produce clear technical instructions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in work planning, maintenance planning, operations planning, or similar technical roles.
• Experience developing technical work packages, procedures, and planning documentation.
• Ability to work in high-hazard or highly regulated environments such as DOE, nuclear, defense, or industrial facilities.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear technical instructions and procedures.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed work packages, including labor, materials, time estimates, and safety requirements.
• Write clear step-by-step work instructions and procedures for operations, maintenance, and facility modification activities.
• Coordinate planning activities related to mechanical, electrical, chemical, or radiological systems within the facility.
• Identify and resolve work constraints, ensuring work packages are complete and ready for execution.
• Support operations in a high-hazard nuclear environment, ensuring compliance with LANL and DOE safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, safety professionals, and project managers to ensure work activities are properly planned and executed.
• Ensure work control documentation supports safe, efficient, and compliant execution of facility activities.
