Job summary
CID GmbH, a dynamic IT company with 14 locations, is seeking a Senior WordPress Web Developer to own the development, customization and optimization of WordPress-based solutions for diverse clients. You will build custom themes/plugins, integrate REST APIs, optimize performance and security, and collaborate with UX/UI designers and backend teams to turn concepts into scalable, secure web experiences.

- Multiple years of professional WordPress development experience.
- Strong PHP skills essential.
- Proficient in WordPress core architecture and coding standards.
- Experience with Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg and custom blocks.
- Familiarity with WooCommerce and REST API integrations.
- Version control with Git; CI/CD workflows.
- Strong English and German skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement custom WordPress themes and plugins.
- Architect complex WordPress solutions with CPTs, taxonomies, REST API integrations.
- Extend existing WordPress installations with theme/plugin modifications.
- Optimize WordPress performance (caching, images).
- Apply WordPress security best practices and patching.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers, PMs, and backend teams to translate designs into solutions.
- Evaluate plugins, tools and hosting based on project needs.

As a Senior WordPress Web Developer, you will take ownership of the development, customization, and optimization of WordPress-based web solutions for our clients across various industries. Your responsibilities include:
- Development and implementation of custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored to specific client requirements, with a focus on clean, maintainable and scalable code
- Architecture and development of complex WordPress solutions, including custom post types, taxonomies, REST API integrations, advanced content management workflows and more
- Customization and extension of existing WordPress installations, including theme modifications, plugin adaptations, integration of third-party services and APIs
- Performance optimization of WordPress websites, including database query optimization, caching strategies, image optimization and more
- Implementation of security best practices for WordPress, including hardening measures and vulnerability patching
- Collaboration with UX/UI designers, project managers, and backend teams to translate design concepts and business requirements into functional, responsive WordPress solutions
- Evaluation and recommendation of WordPress plugins, tools, and hosting solutions based on project requirements and scalability needs
You are an experienced WordPress developer with a deep understanding of the WordPress ecosystem and a passion for building high-quality, scalable web solutions. You combine strong PHP skills with an eye for detail and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Several years of professional experience in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development from scratch
- Strong proficiency in PHP as the foundation for all WordPress development work
- Deep understanding of the WordPress core architecture - including the Hook system, the Template Hierarchy, the WP REST API, the WordPress Coding Standards and more
- Experience with popular page builders (e.g. Elementor, WPBakery) and the Gutenberg Block Editor, including custom block development
- Familiarity with WooCommerce development and customization is a strong plus
- Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD workflows, and deployment strategies for WordPress projects
- Knowledge of WordPress security best practices, performance optimization techniques, and SEO fundamentals
- Strong self-organization, initiative, and a proactive way of working
- Clear, constructive team communication as well
