Job description

At Postali, our work is rooted in a simple belief: when our clients succeed, we succeed. We help law firms grow through thoughtful, strategic marketing tailored to real business goals. But just as important as our results is how we get there, together. In a fast-moving digital landscape, we rely on curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to learn from one another.

As a 2023 Columbus Business First Best Places to Work winner, we’re proud to be building a supportive, caring workplace where people feel valued, challenged, and excited to grow. We’re looking for teammates who want to do great work with good people, and who care as much about each other as they do about performance.

We are looking for a senior WordPress developer who is excited to build custom websites and connected marketing systems with the help of modern AI tools. You will combine deep WordPress expertise, strong engineering judgment and AI-assisted development to improve quality and solve meaningful technical problems. You will remain deeply hands‑on while evolving Postali’s theme frameworks, leading technical standards and owning the integrations that connect WordPress to CRMs, call tracking, advertising and analytics platforms.

About the Role

You will own technical direction across the full website lifecycle, from architecture and development through staging, migration, launch and ongoing optimization. You will also manage one in‑house developer and selected freelance partners, stay close to the work and have meaningful influence over our codebase, tools, standards and delivery process.

Your scope will extend beyond the website into the connected systems that help our clients generate, route and understand leads. This includes CRM and lead‑routing integrations, reporting data sources, API and webhook workflows, server‑side tracking and selected internal tools. The opportunity is to solve problems end to end, sometimes across WordPress, a database, a third‑party API and a client’s CRM, and to use AI wherever it can make that work faster, smarter or more reliable.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop page templates, reusable blocks and patterns, custom post types and taxonomies, admin fields, schema controls, navigation and breadcrumb logic, search, forms, video modules, dynamic content and other custom functionality.
  • Maintain and evolve Postali’s Core and Crest theme codebases and shared component library, making sound decisions about what belongs in a reusable framework versus a client‑specific implementation.
  • Own the complete website development lifecycle: technical discovery, estimation, local and staging setup, development, content and data migration, responsive QA, redirects, launch, rollback planning and post‑launch support.
  • Use Git and GitHub, local development environments and WP Engine staging and production workflows to manage version‑controlled, reviewable and reliable releases.
  • Improve page speed, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, technical SEO, security and maintainability across the WordPress portfolio.
  • Handle complex site enhancements, maintenance requests and technical QA for existing client websites, not only new builds.
  • Design, build and support integrations among WordPress, Salesforce/Litify, CallRail, Google Ads, Lawmatics, Zapier and other client or marketing platforms using APIs, webhooks, authentication, JSON and server‑side processes.
  • Own the technical reliability of lead attribution and routing, including field mapping, event and source data, monitoring, troubleshooting and reconciliation across connected systems.
  • Build and maintain AgencyAnalytics reporting templates and their underlying data connections for single‑location and multi‑location clients.
  • Maintain and improve selected internal technical tools and scheduled processes, including billing and page‑speed workflows, when they require software engineering ownership.
  • Set development standards, review code and technical approaches, mentor Postali’s internal developer, direct freelance development work and verify that releases meet functional and quality expectations.
  • Create practical technical documentation for theme architecture, integrations, deployment, credentials and recurring support procedures so critical systems are not dependent on one person.
  • Use AI coding and workflow tools throughout the development lifecycle to accelerate research, prototyping, implementation, testing, debugging and documentation, while carefully reviewing outputs and maintaining strong engineering standards. Partner with the AI Systems Engineer to automate repetitive work and improve how the team delivers.
Why This Role Is Different

You will be a hands‑on technical builder with meaningful ownership. You will use your experience, judgment and AI‑enabled tools to turn designs and complex business needs into reliable solutions. Because our development team is intentionally small, you will have real influence over the codebase, standards and way the team works, while also managing one internal developer and selected freelance partners.

The role is broader than a typical WordPress position. Our websites sit inside a connected legal‑marketing system, so the engineer who understands the site also needs to understand how a lead moves into CallRail, Google Ads, Lawmatics, Salesforce or Litify and how that activity appears in reporting. You will connect those pieces, improve the systems behind them and help Postali use AI to deliver better work with greater speed and consistency.

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience, including a portfolio of custom sites where you can clearly explain your technical contribution and decisions.
  • Advanced PHP and WordPress engineering skills, including hooks, actions and filters, template hierarchy, custom themes, custom plugins, ACF, Gutenberg, custom post types and WordPress REST APIs.
  • DNS Management
  • Experience with MySQL, phpMyAdmin and systematic debugging of application, database and hosting issues.
  • Fluency with Git/GitHub and a disciplined local, staging, review and production deployment workflow; WP Engine experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting REST API and webhook integrations using authentication, JSON and tools such as Postman.
  • An AI‑forward working style and sound technical judgment. You actively use and experiment with AI tools to improve development, testing, debugging, documentation and problem‑solving, while independently validating the work, identifying edge cases, choosing sound architectures and estimating delivery responsibly.
  • Experience reviewing code, mentoring developers and directing external development partners while remaining a hands‑on individual contributor.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non‑technical partners, including the ability to document systems and explain tradeoffs.
Great to Have
  • Experience with Salesforce, Litify, Lawmatics, CallRail, Google Ads, Zapier or similar marketing and CRM platforms.
  • Experience with AgencyAnalytics, GA4, Google Tag Manager or multi‑client marketing reporting environments.
  • Experience building internal tools, scheduled jobs or server‑side data‑processing workflows.
  • Agency experience, especially with multi‑location businesses or legal‑services clients.
  • Experience building AI‑enabled features, internal tools or automations using LLM APIs, agent frameworks or workflow platforms.
  • Familiarity with lead attribution, call tracking, intake workflows and performance marketing data.
The Tools You’ll Work With
  • Full‑time, hybrid position.
  • Reports to: Vice President of Client Performance
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Role type: Senior hands‑on individual contributor and technical lead
  • Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000
  • Benefits include 401(k); health, dental and vision insurance; life insurance; generous paid time off; and 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
