Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Senior Windows Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise Windows Server environments in a Raleigh, NC onsite setting. You will manage Active Directory, Group Policy, file services, DFS, SharePoint, and SQL Server, while guiding modernization efforts and developing runbooks.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration with IT teams to ensure secure, scalable infrastructure and adherence to governance and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server administration experience.
• 4+ years designing and supporting enterprise infrastructure solutions.
• Strong Active Directory, Group Policy, and troubleshooting expertise.
• Experience with Windows Server platforms in large-scale environments.
• Knowledge of file services, access governance, and security best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, and other core Microsoft services.
• Manage enterprise file services, permissions, DFS, and data governance.
• Administer SharePoint environments, including security and configuration.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot SQL Server environments.
• Support business-critical systems hosted on Windows Server platforms.
• Participate in upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and modernization.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
• Develop support processes and knowledge-sharing resources.
• Serve as senior escalation point and mentor junior staff.
• Follow IT governance, security, and operational best practices.
