Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking a hands-on Senior Windows Systems Administrator in the Bronx, NY to support, secure, and optimize Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server environments.

The role covers Active Directory, PowerShell automation, virtualization, backup/recovery, and security, with a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 remote). You will collaborate with IT leadership to keep systems available and compliant.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of Windows Systems Administration in mid-size to large enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including installation, configuration, maintenance, scripting, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix.
• Experience with backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery processes.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Infrastructure security best practices and vulnerability remediation.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize Windows Server environments.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching.
• Monitor system health, availability, capacity, and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, OS, software, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.
• Perform system configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and operational support.
• Install, configure, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database availability and performance.
• Write and optimize SQL queries and scripts for automation and reporting.
• Collaborate with app and dev teams to resolve SQL-related issues and improve performance.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate tasks.
• Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual processes through scripting.
• Support standardized, repeatable infrastructure-management practices.
• Support virtualization and networking integration across teams.
