Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Senior Windows Systems Administrator to lead administration of enterprise Windows environments, Active Directory, and security services in a highly classified IT setting near Laurel, MD.

You will manage on-premises Exchange, implement RMF and STIG compliance, and drive modernization with PowerShell automation while collaborating across cybersecurity teams and operations.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of Windows Server administration in enterprise production.
• Five or more years managing on-premises Exchange Server in production.
• Advanced experience with Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and virtualization.
• Experience administering MFA solutions and STIG remediation.
• PowerShell scripting and enterprise patch management experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise Windows infrastructure and services.
• Manage on-premises Exchange Server administration and reliability.
• Lead authentication, patching, and security compliance activities.
• Drive modernization, system architecture, and migrations.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and improve operational efficiency.
• Support RMF/compliance and documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and collaboration across teams.
• Support after-hours maintenance and outages as needed.
