Job summary

Lutz is a business solutions firm seeking a Project Engineer to lead Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure projects in a dynamic team. The role focuses on Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, and hybrid identity, with hands‑on work across on‑prem and cloud components.

Expect to manage migrations, perform data center tasks, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues in a fast‑paced environment. Compensation reflects experience and client needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure engineering.
• A track record of completing infrastructure projects end to end. You have owned a migration or cutover, not just tasks within one.
• Active Directory experience, including Group Policy configuration and troubleshooting
• Hands‑on hybrid identity experience connecting on‑premises AD to Entra ID
• Practical Intune experience deploying and managing endpoints at scale
• Working knowledge of VMware virtualization in a production environment
• Comfortable with physical data center work including hardware installation and cabling
• Able to execute independently from defined project scopes
• Strong troubleshooting instincts and the judgment to know when to solve a problem, when to work around it, and when to elevate
• Comfortable with occasional after‑hours or weekend work when cutovers require it
• Prior MSP or IT consulting experience, a plus
• Relevant Certifications (VMware, Citrix, or Microsoft), a plus
• Familiarity with ConnectWise, Halo, or similar PSA tools, a plus

Responsibilities

• Execute Windows Server builds, upgrades, and domain migrations from an approved project plan, through cutover and validation
• Stand up and configure Active Directory environments to spec, including replication, DNS/DHCP, and Group Policy
• Deploy hybrid identity, including Entra Connect, directory synchronization, conditional access, and MFA
• Migrate and implement endpoint management into Intune, including Autopilot enrollment, compliance and configuration profiles, and application deployment
• Migrate Windows file and print services between servers
• Build and upgrade VMware ESXi and vCenter environments, including host deployments and virtual machine migrations
• Rack, stack, and cable hardware in a live data center environment
• Overcome obstacles during implementation and elevate when scope needs to change
• Serve as an escalation point for complex Microsoft infrastructure issues
