Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to hold accept/reject authority on structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies, inspecting to AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required.

The role includes witnessing welder qualification tests, reviewing WPS/PQR, directing NDT, and signing inspection reports relied upon by engineers and building officials.

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector with hands-on inspection experience.
• Familiar with AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• Ability to defend a rejection to a fabricator with documented rationale.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness tests.
• Direct NDT and write inspection and nonconformance reports.
