Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to lead acceptance/rejection decisions on structural steel, pipe, and fabricated assemblies, applying AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required by the project.

You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS/PQR records, and direct NDT while writing inspection and nonconformance reports for engineers and the building official.

Qualifications

• CWI with 2+ years of inspection experience.
• Proficient with AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Ability to defend a rejection and document it for retest.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing (NDT).
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for engineers and building officials.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erections; sign reports as required.
