Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company seeks a Senior Welding Engineer to own welding processes across production operations, focusing on structural steel GMAW-P pulse welding and supporting TIG welding. You will ensure weld quality, optimize processes, and support new product launches through collaboration with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years welding engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Active CWI certification.
• Experience developing and maintaining welding procedures and quality programs.
• Experience with structural steel fabrication and welding processes.
• Knowledge of AWS welding codes and weld testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the SME for welding processes, equipment, quality, and standards.
• Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures and supporting docs (WPS, PQR).
• Lead weld process development, optimization, and troubleshooting for structural steel fabrication.
• Support GMAW-P pulse and TIG welding processes.
• Define weld parameters, fixtures, shielding gases, preheat/interpass requirements, and controls.
• Conduct root cause analyses for weld defects and implement corrective actions.
• Review designs for weldability and manufacturability for new product launches.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering and Quality to define welding requirements and inspection criteria.
• Evaluate and implement improvements to equipment, fixtures, tooling, and welding cells.
• Coordinate installation, startup, validation, and commissioning of welding equipment.
