Job summary

Capitol Engineering Co. in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Senior Welder/Fitter 3 for a high-skill, fast-paced fabrication shop.

You will perform complex multi-process welds across carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, and AR plate, using MIG, Flux-Core, Stick, and TIG, while reading full engineering blueprints and leading advanced fit-up. You will mentor junior welders and apprentices, ensure welding procedure compliance, and uphold strict safety and quality standards on all projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification or apprenticeship preferred.
• 8+ years of production welding and fabrication experience across multiple product types.
• Full-position welder qualifications (1F-4F, 1G-4G) per welding code or WPS.
• Demonstrated ability to weld on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and AR plate.
• Ability to read and interpret full engineering blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
• Strong safety leadership and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Perform GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding in all positions and materials.
• Lead advanced fit-up and layout for large assemblies using blueprints as reference.
• Mentor Welder I and II and apprentices on welding technique and quality standards.
• Ensure safety, PPE compliance, fume extraction, and housekeeping on the shop floor.
