Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking an experienced welder to perform journey level fabrication and repair welding on mechanized equipment, structures, and heavy machinery. The Senior Welder will work with blueprints and work orders to ensure accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities include field repairs with a mobile welding unit, maintenance of supplies, and mentoring apprentices to uphold quality and safety standards. Evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Three years of welding experience.
• Welding certificate from a trade school plus two years' experience.
• Valid driver's license; some positions require Class A/B CDL.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment to meet layouts and work orders.
• Fabricate and repair metal components per blueprints and work orders.
• Maintain welding supplies and monitor usage.
• Operate a mobile welding unit for field repairs.
• Assist in mechanical repair of heavy equipment.
• Train apprentices and supervise safety and quality checks.
• Perform other trades tasks as needed.
