Job summary

BlueScope is seeking a Welder 2 to join our team in Alabama. You will read blueprints, set up processes, align and weld parts, verify quality, and contribute to continuous improvement on complex fabrication projects.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3+ years of welding experience, and prefer AWS D.1.1 certification. Local travel is uncommon; the work is on-site with routine safety training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or ACT WorkKeys at certified level.
• 3+ years welding experience; welding to blueprints and specs.
• AWS D.1.1 Welder Certification preferred; 1-year technical certificate desired.

Responsibilities

• Position, align, fit, and weld parts per blueprints using jigs and hand tools.
• Verify conformance to specs and assess structural soundness.
• Review drawings to determine material requirements and sequencing.
• Work on complex tasks, fabricate fixtures, and perform repairs.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective actions.
• Layout material and setup for automated/robotic welding.
• Train and mentor new welders; maintain housekeeping standards.
