Job summary

Expro International Group in Lafayette, LA is seeking an experienced welder/fabrication technician to carry out fabrication, maintenance and welding repairs to equipment.

You will determine required welding methods, read drawings, and ensure safety and compliance with ASME, AWS and API standards, with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in welding/fabrication
• Experience delivering to industry quality standards
• Knowledge of ASME/AWS/API welding standards

Responsibilities

• Perform welding fabrication, maintenance and repair safely and to required standards
• Complete work per workpack instructions, procedures and drawings
• Select equipment and welding method based on metallurgy and geometry
• Inspect welded surfaces using tests (hydrostatic, x-ray, dimensions) to ensure quality
• Interpret engineering drawings to plan layout, assembly, and welding
• Prioritize safety to minimize accidents and incidents
• Layout and secure parts according to specifications

Carrying out fabrication, maintenance and welding repairs to equipment.

Key Activities and Accountabilities

1. Ensure that the welding fabrication, maintenance, and repair of all equipment and peripherals is carried out safely, effectively and to required standards

2. Complete all workscope in accordance with applicable workpack / jobcard instructions, associated procedures and drawings/sketches

3. Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques

4. Observe tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications

5. Analyse engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations

6. Work with safety as a top priority in order to minimise accidents and incidents

7. Lay out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications

Job Knowledge and Qualifications

1. Minimum of 5 years previous experience in similar role post mechanical apprenticeship or training.

2. Experience of working to approved industry quality standards

3. Knowledge and experience of appropriate international quality standards (e.g. ASME, AWS, API)
