Job summary

Citi is seeking a Digital Assets Web3 Blockchain Engineer to join the CIDAP team in New York. You will build and integrate Web3 components, smart contracts, and backend services interfacing with Ethereum, Hyperledger Besu, Solana, and other networks.

The role requires extensive backend experience, strong Web3 expertise, and a security-minded approach to on-chain development. This is a full-time, on-site position based in New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MS is a plus.
• 10–15 years of software engineering experience with strong backend foundation.
• 3–5 years in Web3 and blockchain application development.
• 8–12 years backend development using Java/Spring, Node.js, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in smart contract development and testing frameworks.
• Hands-on with Web3 libraries such as Web3J, Web3JS, Ethers.js, Viem.
• Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals and token standards.
• DevOps, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD experience.
• Exposure to Layer 2 & cross-chain interoperability is a plus.
• Experience in financial services is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy Web3 components and integrations for the CIDAP platform.
• Build and maintain backend services interfacing with public/permissioned blockchains.
• Develop, test, and audit smart contracts for security and correctness.
• Integrate Web3 libraries into enterprise Java and/or Node.js services.
• Implement asynchronous, event-driven architectures for on-chain events.
• Collaborate with architects to design scalable, secure Web3 infrastructure.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
• Support tokenization frameworks and DeFi/TradFi bridging components.
• Contribute to technical docs including specs and architecture notes.
• Stay current with Web3 ecosystem trends and tooling.
