Job summary

Citi is seeking a Blockchain/Web3 Java Engineer to join the CIDAP team in New York. This hands-on role focuses on design, development, and deployment of Web3-native components for institutional digital finance, including tokenization, on‑chain settlement, and protocol integrations.

The candidate will work with a distributed global team, bridge decentralized patterns with enterprise standards, and contribute to scalable and secure Web3 infrastructure across Citi's digital asset platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend foundation.
• 3–5 years hands-on Web3/blockchain development including smart contracts and protocol integration.
• 4–6 years backend development using Java/Spring or Node.js.
• Proficiency with Solidity and testing frameworks (Hardhat, Foundry, Truffle).
• Experience with Web3 libraries (Web3J, Web3JS, Ethers.js, Viem).
• Familiarity with token standards and blockchain networks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy Web3 components for Citi's Digital Asset Platform.
• Build and maintain backend services interfacing with public and permissioned blockchains.
• Develop, test, and audit smart contracts for security and gas efficiency.
• Integrate Web3 libraries into enterprise Java/Node.js services.
• Implement event-driven architectures for on-chain events and state synchronization.
• Collaborate with architects to design scalable Web3 infrastructure.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
• Support tokenization, custody solutions, and DeFi/TradFi bridging components.
• Contribute to technical docs and architecture notes.
• Stay updated with Web3 ecosystem developments.
