About The Role

The Senior Web Designer is an experienced digital designer who combines exceptional visual design skills with a deep understanding of user experience, accessibility, modern web technologies, enterprise Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs), and eCommerce experiences. Working closely with Design Directors, UX Strategists, Developers, and cross‑functional teams, they create engaging, user‑centered websites, eCommerce experiences, and digital experiences that balance business goals, user needs, and technical requirements.

This role blends hands‑on design execution with project‑level creative leadership. Senior Web Designers lead the visual direction of client engagements, mentor designers, facilitate collaboration, and contribute throughout the entire design process, from discovery and concept development through production‑ready execution. They are trusted creative partners who confidently present work to clients, guide design discussions, and help ensure projects are delivered with a high level of craft and strategic thinking.

Successful Senior Web Designers elevate the quality of work across projects, foster strong client relationships, mentor teammates, and consistently deliver thoughtful, engaging digital experiences. They bring deep expertise in enterprise Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs), modern eCommerce platforms, and Figma design systems, enabling them to create scalable, implementation‑ready experiences that support both business goals and long‑term maintainability.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the visual design and creative execution of websites, eCommerce experiences, and digital experiences across multiple client engagements.
  • Develop and refine:
    • Creative concepts and visual explorations
    • Moodboards and design directions
    • User flows and page layouts
    • Wireframes and interactive prototypes
    • High‑fidelity interface designs
    • Responsive experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile
    • Design systems, UI components, and style guides
  • Translate business requirements, research insights, and content strategies into intuitive digital experiences.
  • Define visual frameworks that balance user experience, accessibility, brand expression, and technical feasibility.
  • Champion design quality and consistency across projects while ensuring alignment with client objectives and best practices.
  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to designers while helping elevate the quality of work across the team.
  • Lead design critiques, collaborative working sessions, and creative reviews.
  • Help establish project priorities, contribute to planning discussions, and support successful project delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted design lead, partnering with cross‑functional teams to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints.
  • Lead by example through exceptional design craft, professionalism, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Present design work confidently to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate design reviews, discovery sessions, workshops, and collaborative working sessions.
  • Build trusted relationships with client teams through thoughtful communication and creative leadership.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale and confidently guide conversations around user experience, visual design, accessibility, and implementation.
  • Partner with project managers, strategists, researchers, and developers to identify opportunities that improve both client outcomes and user experiences.
  • Create visually engaging, user‑centered websites, eCommerce experiences, and digital experiences that align with client goals and brand standards.
  • Create, evolve, and maintain scalable Figma design systems, component libraries, reusable UI patterns, and documentation that support consistency, accessibility, and efficient implementation.
  • Design solutions that account for the capabilities and constraints of enterprise Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs) and eCommerce platforms, collaborating closely with developers and content teams to ensure successful implementation.
  • Produce clean, organized, developer‑ready Figma files, specifications, and assets.
  • Partner closely with developers throughout implementation to ensure design quality and fidelity.
  • Participate in design critiques and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback to peers.
  • Leverage AI‑powered prototyping tools to accelerate exploration, improve workflows, and enhance the quality of design deliverables.
  • Evaluate emerging AI tools and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, collaboration, and creative exploration.
  • Stay current on digital design trends, accessibility standards, emerging technologies, Digital Experience Platforms, and evolving web best practices.
  • Contribute ideas that improve design processes, systems, and creative quality.
  • Share knowledge across the team and help foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Mentor junior designers through feedback, coaching, and day‑to‑day collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience designing websites, digital products, or eCommerce experiences.
  • Experience leading the creative direction of digital projects and mentoring designers in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design, UX thinking, and modern web design execution.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Figma, including extensive experience creating, maintaining, and evolving enterprise design systems, component libraries, variables, auto layout, design tokens, and developer‑ready documentation.
  • Familiarity with AI‑assisted design workflows, interactive prototyping, experience simulation, and design system acceleration.
  • Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully integrate AI into the design process while maintaining strong creative judgment, accessibility standards, and user‑centered design principles.
  • Deep experience designing enterprise websites and eCommerce experiences on leading Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs) and commerce platforms such as Sitecore, Optimizely, Adobe Experience Manager, Contentful, Shopify, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WordPress, or similar platforms, with an understanding of platform capabilities, content modeling, personalization, merchandising, authoring workflows, and implementation considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable, reusable interface systems that balance user experience, business requirements, and the technical realities of enterprise CMS and DXP implementations.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), usability best practices, and eCommerce UX principles, including customer journeys, product discovery, merchandising, and conversion optimization.
  • Strong typography, layout, color, visual hierarchy, and interaction design skills.
  • Ability to synthesize research, analytics, stakeholder input, and business requirements into effective design solutions.
  • Experience collaborating closely with developers and supporting design‑to‑development handoffs.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern front‑end development concepts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in an agency, consultancy, or digital product environment preferred.
