Job summary

Bloomberg Industry Group is seeking a data engineer to design, develop and maintain data pipelines and customer-facing applications. You will manage Postgres and SQL Server databases, build ingestion pipelines on Databricks, and architect scalable data solutions.

The role requires delivering high-quality code, diagnosing production issues, and collaborating with a cross-functional team to meet customer expectations. Strong AWS, DevSecOps, and modern software engineering practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience administering RDS Postgres and Aurora with MS SQL Server knowledge.
• Experience with the Databricks platform — notebooks and pipelines.
• 3 years of software development or equivalent in building commercial applications.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.
• Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS, serverless, microservices, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Architect, design and deliver high-quality code independently following best practices.
• Make informed design decisions and tradeoffs.
• Diagnose and fix production issues.
• Communicate with the development lead to raise issues and anticipate barriers.
• Build enterprise applications at scale with strong CS fundamentals.
• Develop scalable, high-availability components across front-end and back-end architectures.
• Seek evidence through proofs of concept, tests, and external research.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
