Job summary

Bloomberg Industry Group is seeking a data engineer in Arlington, VA to design, build, and support data pipelines and applications. You will manage RDS Postgres and Aurora databases, contribute to Databricks-based ingestion pipelines, and deliver scalable, reliable solutions that meet customer expectations.

You will architect high-quality code, collaborate with agile teams, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve data architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience administering RDS Postgres and Aurora; understanding of Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• Experience with the Databricks platform—Unity Catalog, notebooks, and pipelines.
• 3 years of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering principles.
• Experience contributing to distributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.
• Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS, Serverless, event-driven architecture, microservices, CI/CD, IaC).
• Proficiency with the full SDLC including coding standards, architecture/design patterns, code reviews, and operations.

Job description

As a member of a data engineering team, you are responsible for data pipeline and application - design, development, integration, delivery, maintenance and support. You have experience managing and supporting Postgres and SQL Server databases and experience with building data ingestion pipelines in the Databricks Platform. You are self-motivated professional, with experience designing and architecting technical solutions and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and programming languages. You will propose, develop, and support customer facing applications and provide hands‑on solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.

You need to have:

• Demonstrated experience in administering RDS Postgres and Aurora databases with understanding of Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
• Experience with the Databricks platform - leveraging unity catalog, creating notebooks and pipelines.
• 3 years of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering principles and practices.
• Demonstrated record of successfullycontributing indistributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum andDevSecOpspractices.
• Proficiency with cloud technologiesi.e.AWS, Serverless, Event DrivenArchitecture, SOA,MicroServices,Microfrontend, CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, and other modern technologies.
• Proficiency with professional software engineering practices and the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, architecture/design patterns, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Compensation Range:

Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process. Salary determination will be determined based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, demonstrated skills related to the requirements of the role, education, certifications, and geographic location.
