Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s Wealth Planning Practice is seeking a Senior Wealth Planning attorney with 10+ years of experience to join our Wisconsin offices (Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha). The attorney will serve as a business advisor to clients, guiding them through estate planning, trusts and estates, and tax matters across their life cycles.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from ABA accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • 10+ years in estate planning, trusts & estates, and transfer tax planning.
  • Wisconsin license preferred or willing to become licensed.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving firm needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building with clients.

Responsibilities

Job description

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s growing Wealth Planning Practice is looking to add a Senior Wealth Planning attorney with at least 10 years of experience to any of our Wisconsin offices (Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha). The attorney will serve as a business advisor to clients, guiding them in a full range of legal matters throughout their life cycle.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating and implementing estate plans, the administration of trusts and estates, including experience with preparation and/or review of gift tax returns and estate tax returns, creating marital property agreements, and transfer tax planning, including the use of lifetime irrevocable trusts.

The attorney will build strong relationships through direct interaction with clients while advising them on adapting and responding to unforeseen family and business issues, economic conditions, and ever-changing tax laws.

  • This position can be in any of our Wisconsin offices
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • 10 years of experience in creating and implementing estate plans, the administration of trusts and estates, creating marital property agreements, and transfer tax planning
  • Wisconsin license preferred or willing to become licensed in Wisconsin
  • Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm

For Colorado applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The starting salary for associate positions in our Denver office is $190,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Associates are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s associate bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions. This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including: medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm's 401k plan.
