Crawford & Company is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner for California workers’ compensation with a strong background in handling advanced and large‑loss claims. The role emphasizes autonomy, technical investigations, and collaboration with defense counsel.

The candidate should have SIP certification, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and the ability to train and mentor junior staff while managing complex claims and reporting for clients. A competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 4–8 years of experience in Claims or similar organization.
• Ability to work independently while handling technical subjects.
• Strong written and oral communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Effective interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external clients.
• Industry designations preferred: IIA, AIC, AEI, CPCU.
• License requirements per state/jurisdiction; WC Adjuster license as required.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate and resolve advanced, large‑loss workers compensation claims with autonomy.
• Analyze compensability, determine liability, manage reserves and negotiate settlements.
• Partner with defense counsel on litigated matters and mentor new hires.
• Interpret and make decisions using independent judgment on complex coverages and apply coverages to claims.
• Direct discovery and litigation strategy with legal counsel; manage investigative activity.
