Job summary

Jobtailor in Newport News, VA is seeking an experienced mechanical/ electromechanical systems engineer to design and develop instruments, controls, engines, and machines for production and energy applications.

You will provide deckplate support to manufacturing trades during VCS construction, resolve engineering reports, manage risk, and coordinate with SOS, EB and other divisions; occasional visits to production and shipboard environments requiring PPE.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• 9 years exempt experience; Master’s 7 years; Ph.D. 4 years.
• VCS construction experience is a nice-to-have.
• Experience working/resolving Engineering Reports is a nice-to-have.
• Manufacturing experience is a nice-to-have.

Responsibilities

• Researches, designs, and develops mechanical and electromechanical systems for energy use.
• Applies research to planning, design, development, and testing of systems and instruments.
• Provides deckplate support to manufacturing trades for VCS construction.
• Resolves engineering reports, conducts risk analysis, and interfaces with SOS, EB, and other divisions.
• Regularly visits production and shipboard environments requiring PPE and physical activity.
