Job summary

Stantec’s Walnut Creek, CA office is seeking a Principal Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead client engagements and deliver complex water and wastewater projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and advance business development within California’s municipal and industrial water markets.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with leadership, and uphold safety and quality standards while shaping strategy for the California water practice.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering; M.S. preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of water/wastewater treatment or conveyance experience.
• California PE license required, or PE in another state with ability to obtain CA license within 1 year.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with internal, subconsultant, vendor and supplier resources.
• Strong client service, project management, and design leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead client-facing projects in municipal or industrial water markets in California.
• Manage project staff, budgets, contracts to meet performance goals.
• Promote Stantec’s project delivery structure with Project Managers and Project Technical Leads.
• Provide technical guidance for water and wastewater solutions.
• Coordinate with clients during planning, design, and construction phases.
• Develop strategic client relationships and drive business development in California.
• Engage clients in discussions to translate needs into project opportunities.
• Support innovation and research through participation in professional activities.
• Mentor junior professionals in California offices.
• Adhere to Stantec safety procedures and quality controls.
