Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior water and wastewater engineer to drive the growth of our water and wastewater practice in the energy, industrial, and municipal markets. You will lead design, evaluation, and reviews across power generation, data centers and municipal projects, while mentoring teams and expanding client relationships.

This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a track record in business development, regulatory analysis, and complex reporting.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years in water/wastewater treatment engineering for power, industrial, municipal or data centers.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects.
• Experience in business development, proposal writing, and client management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, evaluation, and review of water supply and wastewater systems for diverse clients.
• Assist in training and managing technical personnel.
• Prepare engineering studies for new installations and retrofits of water and wastewater systems.
• Verify vendor-supplied treatment equipment designs (RO, ZLD, biological, chemical conditioning).
• Analyze water quality challenges and present technical findings to clients and stakeholders.
• Evaluate regulatory impacts (CWA, ELGs, NPDES) on systems.
• Prepare technical reports, specs, and mass/water balances.
• Travel to client sites for project reviews and engagement.
• Lead expansion of S&L's water/wastewater practice and cultivate client relationships.
• Collaborate with PMs to set work priorities across multiple projects.
• Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and regulatory trends.
• Represent S&L at conferences and code committees.
