Job summary

Carollo Engineers, a leading water-focused engineering firm, seeks a Design Manager (Water/Wastewater) to lead large-scale engineering programs in Southern California. You will manage budgets, schedules, and contracts while coordinating multi-discipline teams and maintaining client relationships on critical projects.

Required are a PE license, 12+ years in wastewater design, and strong communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
• 12+ years of wastewater design experience in environmental consulting with hydraulics and treatment plant design.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Experience managing medium-sized projects with budgets, schedules and quality standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Proficient in public speaking.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of water system design, including master planning and pumping.
• Familiar with wastewater codes and regulations.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, and conducts engineering work on large-scale projects with budget and schedule responsibility.
• Negotiates issues with senior engineers and officers of other organizations.
• May supervise multiple projects concurrently.
• Leads a team of professionals across disciplines.
• Makes decisions with far-reaching impact on engineering activities.
• Initiates and maintains contacts with key engineers and officials.
• Prepares proposals, conducts interviews, and negotiates client contracts.
• Develops relationships with client management.
• Identifies need for subconsultants and directs their work.
• Engages in professional associations and technical presentations.
• Involved in recruitment and candidate selection.
• Travel as required.
