Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Control Systems Engineer to lead projects supporting our Control Systems practice, primarily in the Water/Wastewater market. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, design, automation programming, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems.

The role involves leading the planning, design, and implementation of automated process control and SCADA systems, coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and developing solutions for construction and implementation. The engineer will also lead control system assessments, improvements, and replacements, and develop construction documents, review shop drawings, and oversee construction phases.

This individual will develop client relationships, contribute to business development, and assist with marketing and proposal preparation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Travel to client sites for assessments.
  • Lead design reviews and planning meetings.
  • Develop preliminary reports and studies.
  • Produce biddable, accurate construction documents.
  • Coordinate with electrical and process engineers.
  • Assist in technology solution specifications.
  • Support selection of instrumentation and network equipment.
  • Lead control system programming workshops and teams.
  • Assist in testing and commissioning activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Controls, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Valid PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing I&C systems, including schematics and loops.
  • Network design experience for industrial control or SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of telemetry communications, cybersecurity, and SCADA/HMI software.
  • Experience programming PLCs or DCS, SCADA, HMI, and OIT.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in testing, commissioning, and startup.
  • Local candidates preferred.
