Job summary

Harris County Fresh Water Supply District 61 seeks a Chief Operator to manage safe operation of water and wastewater facilities and distribution networks in Cypress, TX. The role requires leadership, rapid emergency response, and strict compliance with permit requirements.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Chief Operator will supervise maintenance, monitoring, and reporting activities to ensure public health standards and regulatory compliance are met.

Qualifications

• Requires 3 years of leadership experience in water/wastewater plants including distribution and collection.
• Ability to operate, maintain, and service complex machinery; respond quickly to emergencies.
• Perform testing, sampling, bacterial and chemical monitoring; ensure compliance with rules and permits.
• Complete required reporting, including monthly submissions; weekend/on-call work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe operation of all treatment facilities and distribution systems.
• Ensure process control and system integrity meet public health permits.
• Maintain compliance with Texas TCEQ rules and operating permits.
• Prepare and submit monthly reporting.
