Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks an Experienced Water Resources Scientist to join our Water and Natural Resources practice in the St. Louis, Farmington, Jefferson City, Overland Park offices.

The role supports Clean Water Act and NPDES compliance, water quality monitoring, and aquatic resource assessments for municipal and industrial clients. You will work with engineers and scientists to interpret environmental data, prepare technical reports, and coordinate field programs, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ecology or environmental sciences is required.
• Master's degree in environmental sciences is preferred.
• At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of related water resources or environmental science experience.
• Experience supporting Clean Water Act and NPDES compliance, including permit applications or renewals.
• Hands-on experience with surface water sampling and water quality monitoring instrumentation.
• Familiarity with Missouri or Midwest state water quality regulations is preferred.
• Strong data management, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review NPDES permit applications, renewals, and modifications; evaluate permit conditions and discharge data.
• Conduct and coordinate surface water, wastewater, sediment, and biological sampling.
• Install and maintain water quality monitoring instrumentation and review data.
• Support aquatic biological assessments and related investigations.
• Conduct bathymetric surveys and streamflow measurements.
• Analyze data and prepare monitoring plans and regulatory reports.
• Lead project tasks, coordinate field logistics, and mentor junior staff.
