Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a driven project engineer to design and manage water and wastewater projects in the New York/New Jersey area. The role demands 7–12 years of relevant experience and a passion for delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.

The successful candidate will lead a team of junior engineers, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and ensure projects meet regulatory and client requirements. A NJ/NY PE license and proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Revit are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or similar)
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in New Jersey and/or New York
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare technical reports
• Experience with water/wastewater design and project management

Responsibilities

• Complete preliminary and detailed engineering design and documents for water/wastewater projects
• Perform design calculations and evaluate options to develop the best solution
• Prepare planning and design documents, cost estimates, drawings and specs
• Coordinate with project managers, CAD staff and other disciplines
• Lead junior engineers and support client meetings
• Ensure QA/QC reviews and deliverables meet standards
• Support construction phase activities including RFIs and submittals
