Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer – Water Modeler to support the planning, development, and optimisation of water and wastewater systems for one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. Responsibilities include developing and calibrating hydraulic and hydrologic models, evaluating submittals for capacity, and guiding long‑term capital improvement planning.

Proficiency with InfoWater, WaterGEMS, and EPANET is preferred, with the ability to interpret SCADA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• P.E. licensure with at least three years post-licensure experience.
• Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modelling software preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and calibrate hydraulic and hydrologic models for water and wastewater systems.
• Evaluate developer submittals to ensure system capacity aligns with growth.
• Perform system-wide capacity analysis and contribute to long-term planning.
• Utilise InfoWater, WaterGEMS, and EPANET to analyse and optimise system performance.
• Interpret SCADA and flow data to validate models and troubleshoot issues.
• Support capital improvement planning including pipe sizing, pump capacity, storage, and treatment expansion.
• Collaborate across departments for integrated infrastructure solutions.
• Contribute to Water and Wastewater Master Plans and impact fee studies.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to engineering teams and leadership.
• Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders and external partners.
