Job summary

City of Youngstown Civil Service Commission seeks a Systems Maintenance Chief to supervise mechanical and labor staff in the Waste Water Division, ensuring efficient operation of sewers, pumping stations, and related facilities.

The role requires four or more years of maintenance experience, Ohio EPA Wastewater licenses, and a CDL with tanker/air brake endorsements. Emergency operations and data tracking duties are included in the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in maintenance of the entire collection system.
• Must currently possess a valid Ohio EPA Wastewater Collection I or Wastewater Operator I license.
• Must obtain a Wastewater Collection II or Wastewater Operator II License within two years of appointment.
• Must currently hold and maintain a valid State of Ohio CDL Class A or B with Tanker and air brake endorsements while employed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect mechanical equipment, laborers, and related activities in the wastewater division.
• Make work assignments and inspect operations to ensure top-efficiency of equipment and facilities.
• Oversee regulators, overflow, tide gates, meter chambers, pumping and ejector stations, and related appurtenances.
• Operate treatment plant during emergency situations as needed and respond to 24-hour call-outs.
• Enter data into the sewer maintenance tracking system and maintain records.
• Serve as operator of record for the City of Youngstown Wastewater Collection System as per EPA regulations.
