Job summary

Durham County Government is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for its County wastewater facilities. You will maintain and repair equipment across the Triangle Wastewater Treatment Plant, collection system, reuse water system, and water distribution network.

This full-time role includes a rotating on-call schedule, safety-focused work, and opportunities within a growing Utilities Division.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Five (5) years of municipal wastewater or industrial maintenance experience.
• Valid NC Driver’s license with three-year driving history.
• Grade II Collection Certification (NC WPCSOCC).
• Preferred Grade I Biological Certification and NC One Water Maintenance Technologist 1.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains and calibrates pumps, motors, and telemetry equipment.
• Maintains equipment logs and documentation.
• Assists with on-call rotations to meet utility needs.
• Supports safety and regulatory compliance in daily tasks.
