Job summary

The University of Chicago Press Distribution Center is seeking an experienced supervisor to assist in managing a 60+ stock- clerks staff across inbound, pick/pack/ship, returns, and inventory controls. The role reports to the Director of Warehouse and Building Operations in Chicago.

The position involves coordinating with unit managers on daily operations, enforcing procedures, supervising performance, and ensuring accuracy of shipping, receiving, and inventory data in a union environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Responsibilities

• Support workflow supervision of 60+ stock clerks across three departments.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of work processes to allocate labor resources during the day.
• Provide training to union staff and enforce established procedures for work continuity and inventory accountability.
• Administer corrective action procedures per university guidelines as needed.
• Collaborate with Warehouse Unit Managers to update or establish written guidelines and procedures.
• Manage production area inventory controls and ensure accurate records.
