Job summary

University System of Maryland Office seeks a Senior Wide Area Network Engineer to provide technical leadership across MDREN’s statewide WAN. You will guide the design, operation, and evolution of DWDM optical transport and ROADM configurations while collaborating with member institutions and partner RENs to support connectivity and growth.

Experience with DWDM optical transport networks.

Responsibilities

Maintains and operates MDREN's statewide WAN infrastructure.
Ensures high availability, performance, and resilience across backbone and interconnection services.
Responds to and corrects network problems.
Develops implementation plans and schedules for network upgrades.
Develops and maintains documentation, policies, and procedures for MDREN operations.
Collaborates with member institutions and RENs on design and capacity planning.
