Job summary

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Senior Vice President for Statistics and Data Science to lead the SDS department, advance AI/ML and data science capabilities, and drive strategy across NORC's portfolio.

The role combines high‑level scientific leadership with cross‑department collaboration, client engagement, and business development, with hybrid work in Chicago or Washington, DC and periodic travel.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in statistics, biostatistics, survey methodology, data science, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible scientific, strategic, and organizational leadership experience.
• Nationally recognized expertise in statistics, data science, AI or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and lead all aspects of the Statistics and Data Science Department, including staff and operations.
• Develop and champion the department's long-term vision within NORC's strategic framework.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to advance enterprise priorities and scientific competitiveness.
• Lead the development of reusable methods, tools, and platforms for data science.
• Drive business development, client engagement, and proposal opportunities.
