Job summary

Civitas Senior Living is seeking a Senior Vice President of People Operations to lead three teams—People Operations, Recruiting, and Learning & Development—and to advise senior leadership on workforce decisions that impact operations.

You will spend substantial time in Civitas communities, driving hiring, onboarding, investigations, training, and policy administration across multiple states. This is a hands-on, growth-focused leadership role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR leadership across multiple sites or communities.
• Proven ability to build process and structure where none existed.
• Ability to explain workforce metrics to operators clearly and succinctly.
• Experience with multi-state compliance (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, I-9).
• Strong judgment in employee relations and investigations; able to present conclusions.
• Willingness to travel to communities regularly (25–35%).
• SHRM-SCP or SPHR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct, hands-on leadership of People Operations, Recruiting, and Learning & Development.
• Set priorities, coach staff, and be accountable for department outcomes.
• Lead full-cycle recruiting across all communities and corporate offices.
• Develop a pathway to grow executives from within the company.
• Maintain policy administration and multi-state compliance.
• Build scalable systems, workflows, and reporting for growth.
• Partner with operations and finance on retention and labor cost.
