Job summary

Alector in South San Francisco seeks a Vice President of Clinical Development to lead the AL137 program through Phase 1, applying medical judgment and data-driven decisions with Clinical Operations, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, Safety, Biometrics, and other teams.

The role requires strong cross-functional leadership, expertise in neurodegenerative diseases, and a proactive approach to regulatory interactions and biomarker data interpretation, with a focus on AI-enabled decision support.

Qualifications

• Requires MD or PhD in Neuroscience/Neurobiology or equivalent.
• 10+ years leading clinical development in biotech/pharma; early phase experience essential.
• Extensive SME in Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative programs.
• Experience with trial design, medical monitoring, data interpretation, risk/benefit, regulatory submissions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the clinical development strategy for AL137, including Phase 1 planning and data-driven decisions.
• Provide medical leadership for protocol design, eligibility, safety, dose escalation, and data review.
• Serve as Alector's internal clinical voice and primary program expert, coordinating with regulators and investigators.
