Job summary

Exelixis, Inc. in Alameda, CA is seeking a Vivarium Technician IV to manage animal husbandry and housing for the in vivo pharmacology program.

You will perform routine dosing and blood collection in mice and rats, monitor health, and assist with tissue harvest and other duties as needed. The role requires hands-on experience with animal facilities, record keeping, and flexibility to work weekends/holidays as necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 7 years related experience; or AA with 5 years; or BS with 3 years; or equivalent experience.
• AALAS certification preferred.
• Experience with animal facility housekeeping, safety, inventory procedures and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Maintains animal husbandry and housekeeping of animal holding and support areas.
• Performs routine dosing and blood collection in mice and rats via multiple routes and tissue harvest.
• Provides additional support including shaving fur, weighing bodies, re-housing animals, and other duties as needed.
• Performs daily health monitoring of animals and reports findings to management.
