Job summary

Leidos Defense Group seeks a Senior Virtualization Engineer to support AFNCR IT Services at Joint Base Andrews. You will design, deploy, and maintain VMware/Nutanix clusters, monitor performance, and lead migrations from legacy platforms to Nutanix while ensuring DISA STIG and NIST 800-171 compliance.

You will collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and application teams and participate in IDR/CCB reviews in a fast-paced defense environment. On-call support is part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related infrastructure experience, or Master’s with 10+ years.
• Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret).
• 10+ years in infrastructure engineering focusing on VMware/Nutanix environments.
• Current 8140 IAT Level II certificate (CompTIA Security+).
• Active VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and Nutanix certifications.
• Experience in DoD/defense contractor environments and DISA STIGs/NIST SP 800-171.
• Strong virtualization expertise across VMware/Nutanix platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for VMware/Nutanix clusters including design, deployment, and maintenance.
• Monitor performance, ensure high availability and scalability, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Serve as SME and train others on VMware/Nutanix usage and clustering.
• Maintain patches and upgrades for hyper-converged infrastructure.
• Lead migrations from legacy VMware to Nutanix.
• Develop virtualization documentation for audits and procedures.
• Participate in IDR/CCB reviews and collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and application teams.
• Utilize vROPS to monitor vCenter and plan capacity.
