Job summary

Vexterra Group is seeking a Senior Virtualization Engineer to design, implement, and maintain complex IT systems with a primary focus on VMware/Nutanix environments. The role supports the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and requires DoD security clearance and adherence to DISA STIGs and NIST SP 800-171.

The candidate will lead technical solutions from requirements through deployment, document results, and train engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related experience or Master’s with 10+ years of experience.
• Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret).
• 10+ years of infrastructure engineering with VMware/Nutanix focus.
• Active VMware Certified Professional (6.0+) & Nutanix Certified.
• Experience in DoD/defense contractor environments and compliance requirements.
• Strong virtualization expertise across VMware and Nutanix platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for VMware/Nutanix clusters across AFDS environments.
• Lead design, deployment, and troubleshooting of virtualization infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain virtualization documentation for security plans and audits.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and application teams to deliver secure solutions.
• Perform root cause analysis for complex technical issues.
• Participate in design reviews and change control processes.
