Referment is seeking a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer to own mature production platforms and guide next-generation systems through evaluation, PoCs and careful migrations.

The role combines hands-on implementation with architectural leadership, focusing on VMware/Hyper-V/KVM, SAN/storage protocols, and automation to drive reliability, scalability and cost efficiency across critical environments.

Formación

• 10+ years hands-on experience building and supporting server virtualization in production.
• Expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or a KVM-based platform; multiple platforms preferred.
• Experience with enterprise storage, SAN and storage protocols, plus at least one software-defined storage platform.

Referment is working with a global investment and technology organisation to hire a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer. This senior individual-contributor role will own mature production platforms while shaping their next generation through evaluation, proof-of-concept work and carefully planned migration.

The Role

• Own and maintain production virtualization platforms and storage solutions, focusing on availability, performance and resource efficiency.
• Research alternative technologies, run proofs of concept and define practical migration paths.
• Build automation and tooling that improves reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.
• Plan and execute virtualization and storage migrations with cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical direction on large, complex initiatives while remaining hands-on.

What We're Looking For

• At least ten years of hands-on experience building and supporting server virtualization in production.
• Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or a KVM-based platform; experience across more than one is valuable.
• Enterprise storage and SAN experience, including storage protocols and at least one software-defined storage platform.
• Python and PowerShell programming experience.
• The judgement to evaluate platform change driven by hardware, cost or vendor considerations.
• Strong communication, organisation and independent delivery skills.

A computer science or related technical degree is preferred rather than essential. This could suit a senior virtualization, storage, platform or infrastructure engineer with a record of modernising business-critical environments.
