Job summary

Referment is seeking a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer to own production platforms and guide next-generation evolution through evaluation, PoCs, and planned migrations.

You will combine operational responsibility with long-range design across virtualization, storage and automation, ensuring reliability while steering complex platform evolution for critical business services.

Qualifications

• Ten years of hands-on production virtualization experience.
• Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or a KVM-based platform; experience across more than one is valuable.
• Enterprise storage and SAN experience with storage protocols and at least one software-defined storage platform.
• Python and PowerShell programming experience.
• The judgement to evaluate platform changes driven by hardware, cost or vendor considerations.
• Strong communication, organization and independent delivery skills.

Referment is working with a global investment and technology organisation to hire a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer. This senior individual-contributor role will own mature production platforms while shaping their next generation through evaluation, proof-of-concept work and carefully planned migration.

You’ll combine operational responsibility with long-range technical design, working across virtualization, enterprise storage and automation. The opportunity is particularly suited to an engineer who can keep critical services reliable while leading complex platform evolution.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• At least ten years of hands-on experience building and supporting server virtualization in production.
• Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or a KVM-based platform; experience across more than one is valuable.
• Enterprise storage and SAN experience, including storage protocols and at least one software-defined storage platform.
• Python and PowerShell programming experience.
• The judgement to evaluate platform change driven by hardware, cost or vendor considerations.
• Strong communication, organisation and independent delivery skills.

A computer science or related technical degree is preferred rather than essential. This could suit a senior virtualization, storage, platform or infrastructure engineer with a record of modernising business-critical environments.
